The OPIA Fuzz engine is a petite device of rare beauty that Ben created to deliver phenomenal fuzz. No fuss, no fiddling. Just Click and GO. A pedal with no knobs? What sort of witchcraft is this? Ultra Simple. Sublime fuzz. At the click of a footswitch. That kind of witchcraft. Fuzz pedals, generally, sound best when first in the signal chain. Red Witch took this idea and thought “Well, if it’s first in the chain, why not allow the player to set the flavor/ grit and volume with their guitars volume control?” So they did. And now we have OPIA.

Let’s travel in time back to the late 60’s…. only a handful of effects pedals were available or used. Fuzz was one of the first, existing long before anyone conceived of an overdrive or distortion device. How did players set the amount of fuzz, on the fly, mid song, back then? With their volume control. Ben has designed a device crafted with the sole intention of being radically responsive to your volume control. Place the OPIA first in your signal chain. Engage the pedal. Red Witch are based in New Zealand, making boutique analog guitar effect pedals. They strive to blend art and technology into their pedals, aiming to create devices that inspire the player - sonically and visually, and are dedicated to creating unique new pedals - not clones. The Red Witch range quickly became used by the very elite of the music industry, including some of the biggest names, like Steve Vai, Steve Lukather and Andy Summers from The Police.
