Traditional guitar amps are designed to colour an electric guitar's sound and add character and warmth. This colour is not desired when amplifying an an acoustic instrument such as an acoustic guitar, violin or double bass however. These instruments have far more advanced, "flatter" frequency response pickups (i.e. flat EQ) that produce a clearer, more even signal i.e. no unnatural boost or cut of bass and treble. For this reason, we have acoustic amps, which focus on produce a detailed, clear and natural style of amplification.
